Happy New Year!

12/26/06

Terra got a present from her labrador retriever friends Hailey and Bella. We cautiously gave it to her to try to open, but as we expected, every little piece of paper she tore off, she tried to eat. So, we had to help her open it to avoid her swallowing paper. She loved the pupcorn and grabbed quite a bit of it when Tim left her go into the container herself. She also destroyed another toy that was supposed to be tough. She must really love that blue octopus though because she’s had that since shortly after we brought her home. It is starting to show a little wear and tear now, but she doesn’t shred it like she does most everything else.

Since Roo has gotten more comfortable being around, Terra has started chasing Tigger and Roo more. And, that means Roo is backing off a bit again. Tigger doesn’t back off though, and Terra is trying to play rougher with her, and we’ve caught Terra pouncing on Tigger. Also, we’ve seen Terra drop her ball near Tigger and Roo and then paw it towards them or start to run away hoping they’ll play with her. We play with her quite a bit, but I guess she wants the cats to play with her too.

This past weekend we decided we would try to let Terra sleep out of her crate.  We decided if she started getting into something she shouldn’t, she would go back in the crate.  Friday and Saturday nights, it didn’t take long before she was put back into the crate.  On Sunday night (Christmas Eve), she came on the bed, laid down and stayed there.  Then Tigger and later Roo came on the bed too.  All five of us sleeping together — what a picture that would have made.  Of course, we knew if one of us attempted to get up to get the camera, one or all of them would have bolted.  Since that night, Terra has not stayed on the bed and has been put back in her crate again to sleep.  It must have been a Christmas miracle.

Until our next update, enjoy the holiday season. And, let’s hope it gets colder so Terra can experience snow.

  1. Hi Terra,

Happy New Year to you as well. I’m glad you like the pupcorn. That is one of Hailey and Bella’s favorite snacks. I guess they forgot to tell you not to eat the paper. They got some pupcorn for Christmas too. They also got some more Wellness treats, which they love thanks to you and your mom and dad introducting those to them.

Hope to see you soon! Take care and be good so you can sleep on mom and dad’s bed at night.

    Love,
    “Aunt” Heather
